We understand that every farm is different, so having a choice of covers when choosing insurance for your horticultural farm is important. WFI fruit and vegetable farm cover includes the following insurance policies:

What covers can you tailor?

Under this policy you can choose to insure various types of farm property. Farm buildings and other property can be insured on either a replacement or indemnity basis. A market value option is available for insured livestock and your farm produce can be covered for up to the amount you would have received had it been sold. You can also choose to insure your farm fencing, farm vehicles, grains, seeds, chemicals, fertilisers and hay.

The Farm Property Damage policy includes the following additional benefits:

Additional working costs
Agistment costs or loss of agistment income
Cover for building materials while altering or adding to a farm building
Cover for contamination of milk
Demolition, clearing of debris, architects fees and the restoration of farm business records
Deterioration of farm produce
Repair or replacement of employees’ tools and equipment
Costs to investigate damage caused by the escape of liquid
Costs to produce a written farm business plan
Costs to restore to health, destroy for humane reasons, and remove and dispose of carcasses of insured livestock, working dogs and horses
Costs incurred to safeguard property from the imminent threat of fire
Legal costs
Mortgage discharge fees and charges
Costs to remove burnt out stumps and replace with seedlings
Professional fees incurred in connection with a tax audit.

The sum insured for farm buildings also includes extra costs you incur to comply with requirements of public authorities when rebuilding. If required, you have the option of increasing the insured value on many of the additional benefits.

This policy insures you against reduction of gross income to your farm business as a direct consequence of physical damage to farm property or death of livestock. The policy also covers additional expenditure reasonably incurred solely to avoid or diminish the reduction in gross income. You can also choose to insure damage to property at a supplier's or customer's premises.

Various items of property can be insured against accidental loss, accidental damage and theft under the Farm General Property policy. This includes items such as augers, workshop tools, and farm produce.

This policy insures you against your legal liability to pay compensation for personal injury or damage to property in connection with your farm business. If we agree to indemnify you for a claim made against you, we also pay the reasonable legal costs incurred to defend or settle the claim, so long as you seek our prior approval.

This policy can provide cover for the breakdown of machines and explosion or collapse of boilers, economisers or pressure vessels that you choose to insure. You can also choose to insure for deterioration of farm produce in cold storage where this is due to contamination by refrigerant, failure of the refrigeration process or failure of a power supply.

This policy gives you the option to insure your electronic equipment, such as your computer, against accidental damage anywhere in Australia, as well as theft from a securely locked building, room or vehicle. As an additional benefit, items of electronic equipment purchased during the period of insurance will be automatically covered until your next policy renewal date.

This policy insures your farm property and vehicles against burglary and theft that occurs at your farm. The Farm Burglary and Theft policy includes the following additional benefits:

Replacement of property stolen from an auctioneer’s store
Repair of damage to an insured farm building damaged by the burglary or theft
Repair or replacement of employees’ tools and equipment
Cover for money belonging to the farm which has been stolen or lost in certain circumstances
Recoding a lock or replacement of keys and locks
Restoration of farm business records
Temporary boarding up, protecting or safeguarding farm property
Cover for property temporarily removed from the farm
